Soy Sprout Side Dish

  • 3 cups soy sprout, rinsed and cleaned
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon mushroom powder
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Drizzle of canola oil

If you have eaten at a korean restaurant before, most likely you probably saw this side dish.

Drizzle oil into pan. Lay out the soy sprout. Sprinkle some salt. Add garlic, water, and turn on heat.  Close the lid and let it cook. Do NOT open the lid until we're done cooking the sprouts. This is the only way to get rid of that raw sprout taste and smell. Once you see the steam seeping through the lid, turn off the heat and let it sit there for another 3 minutes with lid still on. After 3 minutes, remove the lid. Add the garlic, mushroom powder, and pepper. Add more salt if needed. Throw in the chopped green onions and toss lightly.
